16-fold rise in applicants after scheme for girls includes STEM

There has been a 16-fold jump in the number of applicants after the government introduced the Savitribai Jyotirao Phule Fellowship for Single Girl Child (SJSGC) last year by expanding the scheme to include STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) studies.
