Indian indices climb on cues from global, electoral battles

India's most populous state, Uttar Pradesh, was seen as a test of BJP's popularity ahead of national elections in 2024, especially in the context of rising inflation and the devastation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Besides Uttar Pradesh, BJP also won elections in Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa.
